In addition, gaining an understanding of how your lifestyle relates to budgeting gives an added boost when striving for your autonomy.
What Are Supported Independent Living Services?
Supported Independent Living or SIL is a service and funding solution by the NDIS. It provides, in many cases, 24/7 support and care to those who are of old age or are currently living with illness or physical disabilities. SIL services are available to adults with an intellectual and/or physical disability in the Brisbane area. The service assists people to live in their own homes, sometimes by themselves, but often sharing a house with one or two others. SIL services are designed to help people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, with the support they need to achieve their goals and live a fulfilling life. SIL services can include assistance with daily living tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care, as well as support with social and recreational activities. SIL services can also provide assistance with transport, shopping, and other tasks that are necessary for daily living. SIL services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each person, and can be provided on a short-term or long-term basis, depending on the person’s needs and circumstances. SIL services are funded by the NDIS, and are available to people who meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme.
How Does Supported Independent Living Work?
In order to work out how SIL operates, one must start with understanding the individual's needs and abilities. In doing so, working closely with one of our support coordinators and others in the support team has proven to be beneficial in discovering a budget for the SIL. As it is based on an annual figure, the billing process is divided into daily installments. This also leaves opportunities for those participating in SIL to personalise your goals and aspirations to achieving more independence.
